NBA Recap, Top Plays and Photo Gallery for January 29, 2012

RECAP:

The Miami Heat is still the obstacle Derrick Rose and his Chicago Bulls need to go through while the Indiana Pacers are proving to everyone that they are a now a force to reckon with in the East as they demolished Dwight Howard's Magic 106-85. DeMar Derozan took over in the third quarter to help the Raptors claw their way out of the Nets while Kyrie Irving made the biggest play of the Cavs-Celtics game to negate Ray Allen's return to the Celtics lineup. Jason Terry still has no qualms in taking big shots and taking them when they mattered most helping the Mavs outlast the Spurs while the Hawk's Jason Teague declined rest on his sore left ankle to play one of the best games of his career to lead Atlanta past the Hornets. Just when it looked as though the Lakers were going to let another road game slip away, Kobe Bryant showed everyone just how it’s done in closing time. Bryant had 35 points and 14 rebounds and Pau Gasol scored 28 to give the Lakers a much-needed road victory, 106-101 over the Timberwolves. Chauncey Billups was back in Denver with the same drive and intensity but in a different uniform. He scored a season-high 32 points and drew a crucial foul in the waning seconds to help seal the Los Angeles Clippers’ 109-105 victory that snapped the Denver Nuggets’ six-game winning streak Sunday night.
